Nope, they’re not the same
The largest study of transgender people, and how gender surgery affects their mental health, has reversed it’s results. The original study said that such surgery was helpful to their mental health. That was covered by the news media. But 10 months later, it turns out that the results were not as they were sold. Has that been covered?

Many of my friends on Facebook have been conflating absentee ballots with all-mail (or universal mail-in) ballots. They are not the same, and yes they do have serious fraud risks. That’s not just me saying it.

Neil Gorsuch
The Supreme Court did it again. Once, they created a “right” to abortion out of whole cloth. Another time, they redefined the word “marriage”. Now they’ve redefined the word “sex” in such a way that it could very well bleed through to other parts of law and culture.
Is this how a “representative republic” is supposed to work? (Hint: No.)

Illegal border crossings plummet
Illegal border crossings have plummeted this past year. How did that happen? Has 100 new miles of a border wall been that successful, or is there some other reason? (Hint: There is some other reason.)
Five states are stepping up and trying to save women’s sports from an invasion. Biological men are beginning to take over, and Republican lawmakers are trying to protect it.

Born this way? No.
A large study (over 470,000 participants) asked about sexual preferences and activity. It also looked at genetic markers. What they found was that your genes have extremely little to do with your preferences or action.
Basically it’s nurture over nature. There is no “gay gene”. “Born This Way” is a catch-phrase, a chant, not a scientific statement.
This episode has my thoughts on what this means; how we’ve been lied to, and how it exposes current pressures from the LGBTQ crew on society.

Does Beto value human life?
Yet another large study reveals more issues of mental health among transgendered people. The researchers expect more but the magnitude shocked them. It should shock all of us. But which came first?
Beto O’Roarke was asked about the value of human life. Should be an easy question, but when it’s asked about a baby one day before he or she is born, things get dicey.

Art and architecture
I think we can sometimes go overboard looking for ill intent in comment from “the other side”, whichever side that may be. Some conservatives did just that, in my opinion, over some comments about the Notre Dame fire.
The Supreme Court will be hearing 3 cases next session that will be part of a continuing effort in this country to reconcile the rights of various groups of sexual identities and preferences (groups that seem to be created daily) with the First Amendment right to freedom of religion.

Jamie Shupe
Jamie Shupe, who became a transgender and got nationwide publicity when doing so, realized it was all a “sham” and has returned to being the man he was born as. I’ll talk about his journey there and back again. (But don’t expect that he’ll get the same media attention this time.)
It turns out that no matter how you implement them, disincentives to work turn out pretty much the same way. In Finland, they compared traditional unemployment benefits with the Universal Basic Income for 2 years. I’ll discuss their findings.
