International Podcast Day 2019 Live Stream

International Podcast Day is here! There is a live stream of podcasters talking about all sorts of topics (mostly related to podcasting itself).

At 9pm Eastern Time, the Podcast Awards ceremony will be part of this live stream. See if your favorite show (including Consider This) win.

Thanks so much for getting this show nominated! You did your part, and the judged decided to choose “Consider This!” as the 2018 Podcast Award winner in the Politics & News category!

I was up against some really good competition, and am totally surprised that I won. I want to thank all of you for this incredible honor.

Here is my acceptance speech that was shown during the award ceremony.

The 2018 Podcast Awards Are Here!

The Podcast Awards

The 2018 Podcast Awards are upon us. (For some reason, it always takes me by surprise.) I want to thank this audience for getting me nominated the past 2 years, and it’s time to let your voice be heard again by the podcast community.

Click here to go to the Podcast Awards nomination page. You will need to complete the following steps:

* Create a user for nominations. They clear out all login information each year for security reasons, so even if you’ve created one in the past, you need to do it again.
* As part of the process, it will send you an email with a verification code. You enter that when asked for, and your user will now be verified.
* From there, you can nominate podcasts in some or all of the categories.

For nominating, you can fill in your choices in whatever categories you wish. “Consider This” will be in the Politics & News category.

Then don’t forget to hit the “Save Nominations!” button at the bottom. At any time during July, you can log back in and nominate in other categories or change existing nominations.

Please read on for some suggestions as to other podcasts to nominate.

Going on Hiatus

I’ve been giving you my conservative commentary in 10 minutes or less for over 5 years and over 200 episodes.

But right now, it’s time to take a break. As the saying goes, “Into every life a little rain must fall”, and right now I’m pulling out the waders. This rain has sapped me of the desire to keep up this hobby for the moment. I really enjoy podcasting about politics, so I don’t think I’m down for the count, but it is just a hobby. Right now, there are things that require more of my attention, and so one of the things that has to give is the hobby.

I’ll still be posting to the Facebook group, so keep an eye out over there, and Like the page if you haven’t already. We can keep in touch there as well.

I want to thank all of you for listening. It’s always a thrill to see my stats and realize that there are hundreds of you who think I’m worth listening to, whether or not you agree with me. So I’ll see you later, but in the meantime remember to always consider this.

Helping Victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma

If you’re looking for a way to help the victims of the recent hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the Salvation Army is (in my opinion) the best way to do it. (And the most efficient; the Army’s administrative costs are one of the lowest around.)

There are many ways to do this.

Thank you very much!

[Full disclosure: I grew up in the Salvation Army. My parents are retired pastors / “officers”.]

We made it again!

You did it again! You got this little podcast on the slate of 10 finalists for the Podcast Awards in the News & Politics category!

Thank you so very much!

This year, the voting procedure is different. There are journalists and podcasters that will be voting, but also randomly selected listeners who participated in the nomination process (and agreed to be potentially part of the pool; you had to opt-in). So no daily voting this time around.

The results will be announced on Podcast Day, September 30th, 2017.

New YouTube Channel!

I just added a YouTube channel for any videos I create. Click here to get there. I’ve started with the video I created on Facebook Live last month regarding the Georgia 6th district congressional runoff. More to come!

The “Geek Out MS” Podcast Marathon

National-MS-SocietyI’m a part of the Golden Spiral Media network of podcasts about TV shows and movies, and this weekend GSM is doing a 3-day podcast marathon at Geekinomicon in Oklahoma City, OK, to raise money for multiple sclerosis research. Many of the GSM hosts will be participating, talking about Star Wars, the Netflix series Stranger Things, the X-Files, Star Trek, the upcoming HBO series Westworld, and many other geeky topics (including getting started in podcasting).

I will be on with co-host Karen Lindsay to introduce people to our new podcast “Remaking History”, about the upcoming series “Timeless” on NBC. And, since both Karen and I have MS, we’ll  talk a bit about our own journeys,  and some of what is going on in MS research.

We’ll be live on Saturday, September 3rd, from 4-5 pm Eastern Time. Click here to go to the page with the audio, and to make your contribution. Thank you very much.

Podcast Awards 2016 Live Event

This is the video feed for the 2016 Podcast Awards live event. It will begin on Sunday, June 26th at 8pm EST. Let’s see if your votes got this show over the top!

Special Announcement!

2016PodcastAwardsThe “Consider This!” Podcast made it onto the ballot for the 2016 Podcast Awards, thanks to your nominations! Thanks so much for your efforts.

We managed to get this show on the slate with some rather big shows, so when voting time comes, we’ll need to really get out the vote. Here’s how it works.

Starting midnight Sunday morning, May 29th, 2016, you can vote for your choice in each of the categories every day for 15 days. There are 10 podcasts in each of 20 categories, and you can vote in as many or as few categories as you like. But at least vote in the News & Politics category for Consider This. And as they say in Chicago; vote early and vote often!

Again, thank you so much for getting the show this far.
