Jamie Shupe

Jamie Shupe, who became a transgender and got nationwide publicity when doing so, realized it was all a “sham” and has returned to being the man he was born as. I’ll talk about his journey there and back again. (But don’t expect that he’ll get the same media attention this time.)

It turns out that no matter how  you implement them, disincentives to work turn out pretty much the same way. In Finland, they compared traditional unemployment benefits with the Universal Basic Income for 2 years. I’ll discuss their findings.

Episode 227: Studies You May Not Have Heard About

Hiding from the facts

This time out, I’m covering 2 studies, the results of which you probably have not heard about.

First of all, we keep hearing about how school shootings are an epidemic these days. But when NPR tried to confirm government statistics…they couldn’t.

A Brown university professor tried to figure out how much of the current wave of transgenderism was based on external rather than internal influences (that is, how much of it could be attributed to it being a ‘fad’). His results upset some people, so what did the school (that bastion of free speech and facts) do with the study? Listen in.

Who’s in charge here?

The state of Florida stopped doing background checks for gun permits for a whole year. Your government at work…or not. Listen to find out why they didn’t, and what one of the ramifications may have been.

Kids in Connecticut are breaking track records, but not everyone’s happy about that. Listen to find out why, and what they’re doing about it.

Do we let our 4-year-olds decide on their bedtime, or make even bigger decisions about their upbringing? If a new movie out of Hollywood is to be believed, maybe we should let them make life-altering decisions…or not.

A hero you won’t hear about on TV

On the school shooting front, I have good news! An armed School Resource Officer stopped a school shooting recently. But of course, you won’t hear weeks of coverage of it on the liberal news networks. They won’t have a town hall about it. They’d rather blame law abiding citizens than praise a hero who’s success doesn’t fit their narrative.

However, I have bad news on the women’s safety front. A battered women’s shelter turned away a man with a history of violent behavior. But he’s filed a complaint of discrimination because he says he’s a ‘she’, in spite of not having taken any steps legally or physically. This is the abuse we warned you about. This complaint might not succeed, but the foot is in the door.

Episode 192: The Transgender Suicide Epidemic

Why is this happening?

If there was a group of people whose suicide rate was 10 times that of the population in general, what would you do about it? Well, if you’re on the Left these days, you’d encourage more people to join that group.

That’s what happening in the transgender community.

This is a tragedy that has been going on for years, and not just in the US but worldwide. The Left and their parrots in the media generally try to blame this on rejection by society, parents, and peers. But there a few problems with limiting blame to just those causes, or by assuming that those are even the major causes.

The Nazis are restless.

I’ve got 3 topics to discuss this week, one of which was suggested by a listener. (Yes, you can influence the topics covered!)

The violent extremes on both sides need to be condemned. But one side is more consistently doing that.

There’s a country out there taking the lead in the eradication of Downs Syndrome. It sounds like a medical breakthrough! But dig a little deeper, and it’s not that what you think it is.

A study came out regarding the transgendered in the military. The problem was, it studied the effects of a policy that no one is proposing. Well, at least they’re wasting their own money.

The March for Settled Science

On April 22nd, people took to the streets in what was called the March for Science! It’s not really explained who would be against science; that was just a convenient straw man. In fact, there was a good representation of anti-Trump signs, so that it seemed this was equal parts scientific and political. And many folks would agree that science has become too politicized, though the marchers probably couldn’t see that it’s being done by both sides, including theirs.

Republicans are continuing to work on their repeal and replacement of ObamaCare. Well, it’s more like a “repeal and rename” strategy. Much of the failures of ObamaCare remain, but now Republicans will be blamed when the train wreck happens; a pre-existing condition that would have happened anyway, but now that the GOP will claim to have “fixed” it without actually fixing it, they’ll bring the blame on themselves.

How’s that boycott working?

Last year, the state of North Carolina decided that men should use the men’s bathroom, and women should use the women’s bathroom. “Radical” as that was, it got the state boycotted by sports associations, singers, and others. One year later, how has that boycott affected the state?

And speaking of accommodating the transgendered, how is that working out? I’ll discuss the weight lifter, born a man, who is tearing up the women’s competition. I’ll also talk about the boy who realized there was a girl in his locker room, and a rapist who is now in a women’s prison.

You’ll hear it here, because you probably won’t hear it anywhere else.

Does the science prove this is true?

Does the science prove this is true?

We’ve been told various things about human sexuality in the 21st century, and it’s what those activists who have been trying to get laws changed and policies made have said was the absolute truth. They’ve presented it, however, without much evidence at all, if any. But now, an examination of over 200 peer-reviewed studies in the biological, psychological, and social sciences, done by two of the nation’s leading scholars on mental health and sexuality, have determined that these claims are just not backed up by the science.

We need more information, but in the meantime, we’re making public policy based on very incomplete data.
