Hamas human shield

Palestinians launched over 600 rockets at Israel. Most of the world gave a collective yawn. But there is no other country that would ever allow this without a response. Yet when it happens to Israel, people like Rep. Ilhan Omar come out to blame Israel for responding.

Oh, and the Democrats running for President? Well, at least Omar said something. That crowd couldn’t be bothered.

California, following on the heels of New York and Massachusetts, raised its minimum wage recently. Suddenly, their restaurant industry is feeling the brunt of that. Who could have predicted that? (Hint: conservatives.)

And listener Barb has an update from the southern border.

On Sunday, May 5th, Palestinians sent more than 600 rockets into Israel from Gaza, killing some civilians. Of course, that’s who they were aiming at, because that’s what terrorists like Hamas do.

After the Jews removed themselves from Gaza, instead of making it into a Mediterranean beach resort, which would bring prosperity for all, Hamas turned it into a rocket platform, as well as a starting point for gun-smuggling tunnels. Because that’s what terrorists do.

Remember what I said recently about Representative Ilhan Omar, that we should not jump on everything she says because there will certainly be something incredibly outrageous from her very soon? Yeah, well that was quick. After Israel stuck back at military targets, she tweeted, “How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends? The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”

How many more must be killed? Ask Hamas. You know, the ones that hide their fighters and rocket launchers in civilian areas, the ones that fire at what are definitely not military targets. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is of Hamas’ own making. Thousands of tons of aid and billions of dollars flow in Gaza, a lot of it from Israel itself, but Hamas is so consumed by hatred of the Jews that it can’t be bothered to build a better life for its people.

And this supposed “cycle” of violence? Ask Ms.Omar which side in this conflict has as its stated purpose to totally exterminate the other? Radio talk show host Dennis Prager put it this way. “Think about these two questions: If, tomorrow, Israel laid down its arms and announced, ‘We will fight no more,’ what would happen? And if the Arab countries around Israel laid down their arms and announced ‘We will fight no more,’ what would happen? In the first case there would be an immediate destruction of the state of Israel and the mass murder of its Jewish population. In the second case, there would be peace the next day.”

That’s the problem, Representative Omar. And Hamas and all the other Arab factions are the ones sustaining this unsustainable conflict. Ask your questions of them. And answer this while you’re at it; what other country in the world would we expect to do nothing after over 600 rockets were launched against them? (Hint: There isn’t one.)

I will say this in her favor, though. What she said was more than any of the Democrats running for President could be bothered to say. Keep that in mind.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, a video recording surfaced of Muslim children in a mosque singing those wonderful, innocent songs we all sang as kids. Things like, “We will defend the land of divine guidance with our bodies, and we will sacrifice our souls without hesitation. We will chop off their heads, and we will liberate the sorrowful and exalted Al-Aqsa Mosque. We will lead the army of Allah fulfilling His promise, and we will subject them to eternal torture.” This was followed, I’m sure, by “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. I’ll put this up against a Sunday School class singing “Jesus Loves the Little Children” any day, and twice on Sunday.

Listener Barb has let us know before that, yes, there is a crisis on the southern border. She sent me an article recently about a shootout in a suburban neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona between police and those in an SUV who were allegedly smuggling in a 17-year-old girl into the country. One of those in the SUV was killed.

As I’ve said before on this show, the plural of “anecdote” is not “data”, but this particular anecdote is part of a larger problem where illegals are crossing wherever they can. If they are caught crossing, they are often dumped on border towns and left to fend for themselves, many times, as Barb’s other contributions have shown us, overtaxing local services. And, in this case, bringing over children for who knows what. According to the girl, the guy in the SUV with the AK47 told her, when she saw the gun, that it wasn’t meant for her. Clearly these were not concerned family members.

And while neighborhoods are becoming locations for shootouts, Democrats in Congress deny there is any problem at all.

As the rest of the country is enjoying a booming economy, California’s restaurant industry is having a hiring problem. Oh the industry itself is growing, but the pace of jobs in that industry are not keeping pace. That’s according to a recent University of California Riverside study, which shows that California’s minimum wage hikes have slowed job growth in the state’s booming restaurant industry.

What’s worse, the study also predicts, “When the next recession arrives, the higher real minimum wage could increase overall job losses within the economy and lead to a higher unemployment rate than would have been the case without the minimum wage increases.” Pay now and pay later.

Speaking of labor costs, more restaurants are experimenting with things like kiosk ordering and kitchen automation. What do you think that does to the job market?

All of this was, of course, predictable, and indeed predicted, and it also happened in New York and Massachusetts before California gave it a shot. This should catch no one by surprise, but you just know it will.
