Paris Accord fail

President Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Accords on climate change. So how’s that worked out? As a matter of fact, you don’t actually have to sign a piece of paper in order to make big improvements there, and in some cases it seems to hurt.

With over 70 different gender identities out there (so far), what if we held the Left to their own rules about recognizing all of them. One Representative in Massachusetts did that, and it demonstrates how completely without meaning those words are.

In Boston, Massachusetts, a bill was introduced to add a “Gender X” option to the list of genders for a driver’s license. As leftward leaning the state legislature is, this should have been a quick passage. However, one Republican lawmaker decided to make a statement and require the Left to live up to its own set of rules.

Writing in the Boston Globe, radio host Howie Carr summarized the argument of Representative Jim Lyons.

Since all Democrats must admit that the number of genders is endless, how dare the commonwealth lump all the new genders together as ‘Gender X’? Every gender, he declared, must be listed on Massachusetts driver’s licenses! That was Lyons’ non-negotiable demand. No justice, no peace.

Equal representation, and all that, right? Why should male and female get special treatment? Of course it’s silly reasoning, but he was going up against something equally as silly and anti-science. So what Lyons did was introduce amendments to the bill to add each individual gender to the list, rather than just “Gender X”.

How many amendments? I mean, given that new genders seem to be invented every day, what list do you use? Well, Lyons used the list from a service that so many people use every day; Facebook. And their list is 73 genders long. Well, today. We continue with Carr’s description of the proceedings.

Number 6 added as a gender ‘cis.’ Amendment 9 — cis female, 13 — cis woman, 14 — cisgender female, 18 — cisgender woman, Amendment 21 — gender fluid, 22 gender non-conforming, 23 gender questioning, 25 gender variant, 26 genderqueer.

With each amendment required to have a 10 minute debate and 3 minute voting period, the Democrats realized (6 hours and only 35 amendments later) that Lyons was running out the clock on a deadline, so they withdrew the bill. This spared them from going on record voting for things like pangender, polygender, cisgender, intersex, intersex man, intersex woman and intersex person.

What do these terms even mean? The thing is, on the Left, it doesn’t matter what they mean, if anything. Words don’t mean things on that side of the aisle. They only mean what you want them to mean. Well, today. This whole idea of your gender being unmoored from biology and the resulting explosion of gender terms has rendered that whole concept of gender meaningless. The very scientific and common sense idea that your genes are what they are has been abandoned by the allegedly “pro-science” Left in favor of meaningless words and undefined emotions.

Gender dysphoria and other conditions where your body and mind say different things are not helped by legislation like this. Back in episode 192, I talked about the major transgender suicide epidemic and how the pat answers the Left give us as the reasons for it just don’t wash. There is a disconnect in the person that, in virtually every other situation, is understood to be a mental disorder. But when it comes to anything regarding human sexuality, the Left is ready with all manner of exceptions and rationalizations.

Congratulations, Representative Lyons, for doing your part to demonstrate how empty the rhetoric is of those other co-workers of yours who apparently identify as legislators.

The United States never signed the Kyoto Protocol, pulled out of the Paris accords, and indeed has never implemented a carbon tax or a cap-and-trade program. So clearly, we are the “Polluter Non Grata” in the world today, right?

Yeah, not so much.

The latest world climate report from the BP Statistical Review of World Energy reports that in 2017, America reduced its carbon emissions by 0.5 percent, the most of all major countries. And during that time our economy grew by 3%, so we were more prosperous and yet cleaner doing it; the cleanest, actually, since 1992.

Meanwhile, internationally, the rest of the world’s carbon emissions got worse. For example, of the 28 countries still in the Paris Accords, only 5 are even exceeding half of their target emissions goal, with Sweden leading the way at only 77%. But the biggest polluters – China and India – show no signs of wanting to slow down. In 2017, India’s emissions were double America’s reduction, and China accounts for 28% of the entire world’s CO2 output.

Let’s couple this with the recent news that 90% of the plastic in the ocean come from 10 rivers in Africa and Asia, and two things become apparent. First, these agreements and promises that the Left seem to value so highly are pretty much pointless. They are good intentions for all the world to see, and then they quietly go about their business, unable to make good on those promises. In the meantime, the market economy and the capitalist engine continue to put them to shame without being coerced. Yes, 100 years ago, that same mechanism was a huge polluter. But as we live and learn, the market (that is to say, you and me) begins to exert pressure on businesses to do better. Often, this pressure shows those businesses that less pollution can mean better efficiency. The profit motive can, indeed, work to the benefit of all.

And second, consider this when the Left talks about the US being one of, if not the, worst polluters out there. Remember this when they start deciding whether or not to jail you for your plastic straw. We should do what we can to reduce waste and pollution, no doubt about that. I’m on board. But the frenzy that they work themselves into, insisting that this or that government coercion is required to SAVE THE WORLD just doesn’t line up with reality. If something must be done, let’s not rush into some half-baked measure that will do little if anything substantial, and which may have unintended consequences. We can take our time and deliberate because – as surprising as it may come to some folks – we are the example that others need to be following. Explode some heads today with that revelation!
